Bridgewater Curriculum Features
Bridgewater's online curriculum uses a variety of strategies to explain concepts, provide practical application, and evaluate student performance. The online content is delivered in a dynamic, multimedia format consistent with the expectations of today's technology-savvy students. The curriculum features the following benefits:
Core Curriculum & Electives
Bridgewater's online curriculum includes over 60 grade-level courses for grades 3-12 in four core subjects and a variety of electives. Course materials can be used for our alternative distance learning program or as supplemental courses for remediation and enrichment.
Multimedia Elements
Video clips, interactive games, slide shows, tiny tutors, web links, and off-computer projects bring learning to life and allow students to learn from multiple perspectives.
Content Mastery
Instant grading evaluates student answers as they are completed, providing immediate feedback. Quizzes and tests are used to measure student comprehension and progress. Students must master concepts before advancing to the next concept.
Powerful Administrative Tools
Automatic grading, pacing, and lesson planning features leave students with more time for learning.
Computer Grading
Bridgewater's online curriculum automatically records student scores and keeps up-to-date records of grades and selected student activities. Approximately 80% of student work is graded automatically. Students can receive instant feedback, and teachers can override computer grades at any time.
Lesson Planning
Automatic lesson planning tools allow teachers to set calendars and create semester or year-long schedules. Lesson planning for a semester or a whole year is done in minutes! Print features are also included.
Variety of Problem Types
Crossword puzzles, fill-in-the-blank, matching, multiple choice, sorting, true and false, drag-and-drop, preload text, paragraphs, timed sections, and many more problem types give students great variety in their daily coursework.
Focused Learning
Bridgewater's online curriculum creates an environment that encourages students to stick with a lesson until all their answers are correct. Students are placed into a mastery sequence that returns them to incorrect problems until all are answered correctly. Focused learning is not used during quizzes and tests.

"The academy is the perfect fit for my son and me. He gets to study online, which is what he enjoys, and I get the benefits of administrative and teacher support. Plus, it's accredited, which will play an important role later when he applies for college."
